Gwyneth Paltrow's Morning Routine: Try it at Home
Your morning routine can impact your entire day. Nobody knows this more than Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow, who just happens to take her AM routine verrrry seriously.
Just as you might expect, it’s pretty extensive. However, you can apply some snippets of her morning routine to your own and ultimately, kickstart your day!
Ahead, Gwyneth Paltrow’s morning routine that you can definitely try at home.
Step #1: Tongue Scraping + Oil Pulling
“I start my day with a tongue scrape and oil pull,” Paltrow explained on Instagram Stories.
Tongue scraping and oil pulling are ancient Ayurvedic techniques that help to detoxify, keeping the breath fresh, teeth strong, and even the skin bright and healthy.
Oil pulling, in case you didn’t know, involves sloshing oil (like coconut) around your mouth for 20 minutes in a bid to reduce bacteria in the mouth, prevent tooth decay, and banish bad breath.
It might not be do-able for all if you’ve got places to be, but then again Gwyneth is a devout member of TikTok’s trending 5am club — and she always makes time for it!
Step #2: Meditation
Once she’s done detoxifying, the businesswoman, Oscar-winner, and mother (of Apple Martin) enjoys a solid 20 minutes of meditation in a dedicated meditation chair. An advocate of transcendental meditation (TM), Gwyneth always finds time in her morning routine to check in with herself and meditate. Allegedly, transcendental meditation (TM) can reduce stress and anxiety as well as improve brain function and promote better cardiovascular health.
And it’s not just Gwyneth that swears by it. Kate moss, Oprah Winfrey, and a slew of other celebs live for this self-care technique. If you want to improve your health and stress levels, make it part of your daily routine too — ideally, not long after you wake up!
The great thing about meditation is that you can literally do it anywhere — in your bed, on the bus, while waiting in line. There are endless opportunities where you can cultivate peace of mind via meditation.
Step #3: Workout
While it might not seem that way, Gwyneth still has to put in the work to maintain her gorgeous, slender body — just like the rest of us. After meditating, she jumps straight into a workout with her longtime trainer, Tracy Anderson.
“I start every Wednesday with dance,” says Paltrow, who posted a clip of her powering through a routine set to Beyoncé’s Lemonade-era anthem.
Besides the obvious benefits like improving health and spurring weight loss, working out (especially in the morning) is the perfect way to energize yourself and your day. Even just 20 minutes a day is enough to fire up your energy levels and kickstart the day.
Whether you opt for a high-energy dance routine, a calming yoga routine, or another workout you love, the most important thing is to GET MOVING in the morning.
Step #4: Beauty Time
Once she returns home, Gwyneth begins her morning skincare routine, which she says is “part of my mental ritual to get ready for the day.” Agreed!
