A DIY Face Serum for Every Skin Concern

A DIY Face Serum for Every Skin Concern

Serums are one of the best skincare products out there for conquering all your skin concerns. Whether you’re dealing with fine lines and wrinkles, dryness, breakouts, or dark spots, there’s a serum out there that can combat these issues. You do, however, need to choose a formula with active ingredients that specifically target those skin concerns.

Retinol, for example, is a known anti-aging elixir with additional benefits like clearing pores, preventing breakouts, and improving skin tone. Hyaluronic acid is the go-to ingredient for hydration. And salicylic acid is one of the best ingredients out there for acne-prone skin.

You’ll easily find these formulas at your local drugstore (or on our website of course!), or you can try going the DIY routine and making your own homemade facial serum.

Here are some DIY face serum recipes you can try at home to combat everything from dryness to dullness to premature signs of aging.

DIY FACE SERUM RECIPES

All you need are some essential oils, carrier oils, and a glass dropper bottle, and you’re ready to start whipping up your homemade serums!

DIY Dry Skin Serum

Some of the best essential oils for dry skin include lavender, ylang ylang, chamomile, sandalwood, frankincense, and geranium. Pair them with one or more of these hydrating carrier oils: coconut oil, avocado oil, rosehip seed oil, and sweet almond oil.

DIY Recipe

  • 2 tablespoons of avocado oil
  • 2-3 drops of vitamin E oil
  • 5 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 3 drops of frankincense essential oil

Add all ingredients to a small glass bottle, close the lid tightly, and roll the bottle between your hands for half a minute to combine the oils.

DIY Glowing Skin Serum

  • 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil
  • 2-3 drops of vitamin E oil
  • 5 drops of tea tree oil
  • 3 drops of lavender oil

If you have mature skin, turn back the clock and prevent future fine lines and wrinkles from forming with the following carrier oils: rosehip seed, jojoba, and avocado. As for essential oils, these are the best ones for aging skin: rose, frankincense, helichrysum, sandalwood, lavender, patchouli, and ylang ylang.
